Winter is Upon Us
Submitted by admin on Sat, 11/07/2009 - 20:27Although the snow is usually late arriving and staying at Tanani Bay next to the shore, the alpine country above Haines and the Chilkat Pass are already deep in the throes of winter. Snow machines are seen on the back of pickups in town and the cross country skiiers and snowshoe enthusiasts are heading up on the Pass to enjoy winter play. Phtographers are still enjoying an abundance of Eagles on the Chilkat where it is not uncommon to get a photo with over 100 eagles in the scene. Eagles usually stay in large numbers until after the first of the year.
It's Fall....Time for Coho fishing and Eagles
Submitted by admin on Tue, 10/06/2009 - 17:44It’s October and the coho salmon have arrived. Our last guests had pretty good luck in the Chilkoot River which is only 6 miles from here. And don’t forget the eagles are starting to arrive in force and will be at their peak at the time of the Eagle Festival in November. You can see some current photos by looking at the image gallery under "Photos."
